I saw you didn't get much of a response to your question. I'll put my two cents in.

It seems to me that most search engines favor pages with short text. From a researchers standpoint, I think it would be great if more search engines would favor long, text heavy pages. I'd love to be able to find more extensive information on the web - more articles and books or something - as opposed to finding everyone's homepages.
