No, they don't. Image maps depend on having a cursor over a specific spot on a graphic on a screen with a browser that can interpret the position of the cursor and act on it according to special codes in the graphic. Search engine software reads text. Just text. If you look at your raw HTML code, that's what they can see and follow. Anything encoded in the graphic, or dependant on displaying the graphic, is not going to be seen.
