>I'm looking for a freeware, shareware, or online utility which will reduce the byte size of my gifs and jpegs. Does anyone have any suggestions? The key here is "Free" or "Almost Free". :) I've found online sites that do this but you can't save the images. $$$ Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Free: LViewPro (Windows) which can be found in any graphics archive.
Close to Free: Alchemy Mindworks graphics program
Really CHEAP, considering what it does and how much the competition charges:
http://www.JASC.com and look at PaintShop Pro 5.0
http://www.adobe.com and look at the price of PhotoShop
Take notes as you work with a few images, and when you have found the balance between size and appearance for one kind of graphic, write down the settings.
