Chat room addition to website

Hi,

This is a great forum. My question, and I'm not sure it really
should go here but here goes, is has anyone out there setup software
to run a chatroom/bulletin board for their site. And do you have
any recommendations? I'm inquisitive whether to go Perl, C++ or what
and what are the strengths and weaknesses of each? It seems with
portal craziness everywhere that it's a mainstream feature, and a
must have.

Any comments greatly appreciated.
