Animated Images and Emailing

Some of my visitors have gratiously sent me (be email) animated banner images for me to post on my site. The problem is that when I post them they aren't moving. They are just a static image frozen in time!

Also, when I view them before uploading to my site, they aren't moving. Any one have any suggestions or reasons why this might be happening?
