Can engines search sites with FP98 ?

I read earlier comments regarding FP 97 and how search engines
could not read a sites metatags because of Frontpage extensions.
Is this the case for FP 98? If it is, then it's not true for Alta Visat,
Lycos and Infoseek where we show very well. We have been unable to get
any more than our home page to show up in Excite, Webcrawler and AOL
(except for an occasional stray page once in a while). Perhaps the
FrontPage extension thing is why we have problems with those engines.
I haven't mentioned Yahoo because it looks like getting advice from
a fortune teller might be the best approach.
I'd appreciate any input on this.
