>where you would be able to see how many times a specific keyword has been used in the past for a search
"There are several places you can go to watch users inputting search strings in "real time". The following pages will open in a new browser:
Magellan Voyeur (the original one)http://voyeur.mckinley.com/cgi-bin/voyeur.cgi
WebCrawler Search Ticker http://webcrawler.com/games/
Metacrawler MetaSpy http://search2.metacrawler.com/perl/metaspy
I challenge you to watch your screen for five minutes without the word "sex" appearing. Your eyes will boggle at some of these words, it regularly has me laughing out loud.
There's a "mole" at Yahoo! He's uploaded a list of the most common keywords input on Yahoo! (again, mostly sexual of course). Another toy, not to be acted upon: Yahoo! (http://www.eyescream.com/yahootop200.html)Top 200."
The best keywords are not always the ones most commonly typed in but the ones that actually describe your site... Last week I needed info on glow-in-the-dark items... I was with my kids trying to find the info... can't tell you how much I learned about XXX shows that paint their 'stars' in glow in the dark paint... sigh
