404 error messages From Jeremy Stanford on 28 February '98 I have employed your recommended technique of repeating the list of meta keywords at the top of the page's body content (enclosed of course in comment tags). Altavista has accepted my index page but rejected my first sub page with an error 404 message. I deleted the keywords from the body AND changed the url - by adding .htm - and the page was accepted. An error 404 has now been returned for my next sub-page submission. Is it repeating the keywords that upsets Altavista or something else? I'm afraid my pages will be permanently rejected if my submission is somehow incorrect. One thought: are single quote marks acceptable around a word in the title or in the metas?
