changing site AFTER submitting ??

i read about adding twice to altavista,
once with the ip number and once with the
address.. now in order for this to work
i need to change my first page and/or
title before submitting again..
my question:

how long will i have to wait before changing?
how long does it take for altavista for
checking my site???
i dont mind changing the title if that
means a 2nd listing.. question is WHEN
to do it!!
