I concur with Andrew, up to a point (he sells high-ticket items, not
vitamins), that razor-thin margins are the path to profit when you
know EXACTLY what you are doing. Such as having a more profitable
backend. Computer stores make their money on cables and accessories,
not computers and printers. Ink cartridges? Now there's a profit margin!
But hey, that's marketing. I knew one company that got books from
publishers as a charity write-off, and sold them at 90% off through
storefronts with short-term leases. Profit? No way. The product was
tax write-offs, which they flipped to big businesses through the Mob.
Now, that's marketing!
