Without your own domain name, Yahoo figures you're not really serious about maintaining your site. It's kind of like having a stall at a flea market, sure you're here this week, but next week?

Oh boy, here goes my Yahoo soap box speach. Remember Yahoo makes money from banner advertising aimed at people doing searches. They want traffic. Return traffic. LOTS OF TRAFFIC! They would like to consider themselves the "best" search engine. To get the traffic, and maintain return visitors they want to provide the searcher with the most relevant, perfect and satisfying results posible! There's tons of sites on the web, so if yours isn't just right, oh so perfect, has a chance of not being there next week (oh do they hate dead links to come up in the search engines), there's a hundred other sites for them to list. Sites that THEY feel are more relevant. The key words here are "they feel", doesn't matter what you think. Would a domain name help you ? ABSOLUTY. Especially if you've been submitting that 'free' URL a bunch of times. Rummor has it that if you submit the same site too frequently, or too many times, you get "blacklisted" and they wont even revisit it to check it out.

(god, I hope I don't loose my listing for this *L*)
