I've been in retailing for 30 years. I've been ripped off just about
every way short of armed robbery. But 99% of people are resonably
honest (at least face to face). There is no way to be absolutely certain
your customer is wrong. Perhaps someone in the post office opened the
package. Or maybe the customer's kids got to it.
I recall one situation where I was 100% certain the customer was returning
mechandise he bought elsewhere. We didn't carry that brand.
But we HAD bought a few pieces of that brand in a batch of closeouts.
I, not the customer, was wrong.
