Sometimes it accesses Lycos's own database, and sometimes fast.no (aka alltheweb.com.) Alltheweb's spider will not visit "virtually hosted" sites (multiple sites at the same IP.) Also, Allthweb's database is badly scaled; new submissions never get to the head of the queue. I have this from an actual person at Lycos.
