Just for interest, Google is indexing sites with ? in the URL. Although lots think this is a bad thing.

With Apache server you can rewrite the URL so that http://www.yoursite.com/index.htm?query=test

would become:
http://www.yoursite.com/query/test/

in the background the last part of the URL would be interpreted as the query and loaded from the database. That way you can use a dynamic site and still have the contents indexed by search engines.

I don't know how to do this with asp sites, but maybe your support people would. It could be worth asking.
